Job Description
AECOM is seeking a talented and highly motivated Communications Specialist to support our Energy team’s growing projects, including large utility programs in Southern California.
The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual. The candidate will need strong technical, organizational, writing and communication skills to ensure projects meet communications objectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Support development and execution of communications plans to support programs and projects
Coordination and partnership with Community Based Organizations
Maintain and build client relationships by coordinating with client outreach specialists and communications teams
Measure and analyze the impact of communications activities
Support implementation of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, including meeting organization and facilitation
Coordinate with other AECOM and client staff to prepare graphic displays and layouts for public information
Develop presentations and materials for various stakeholders within a client’s brand guidelines
Prepare program and project materials, such as fact sheets, FAQs, press releases, and newsletters
Develop and track stakeholder communications
Plan and implement program and project events as needed
Assist with managing subcontractor coordination and engagement across program efforts
Ability to understand technical project information, develop an outreach strategy related to that information, and oversee the tasks within that strategy to execution
Assist with development of project proposals and identification of new business opportunities
Perform task, schedule, and budget management
DCS—Energy
AECOM’s Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, marketing, planning, or a related discipline with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management and organizational skills
Proficiency with InDesign
Communications experience in relevant areas such as utility programs, renewable energy, capital projects, decarbonization, and/or sustainability
Strong written and oral communications skills, including copyediting and familiarity with AP style
Ability to synthesize complex materials and to craft creative, persuasive language and compelling messaging for a variety of audiences
Fluency with Microsoft Office products, including strong Microsoft Excel skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience planning and executing strategic communications programs

Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $63,283.93 - $87,015.40 annually exempt.
