Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Project Manager with a mix of management, engineering, business development, and client service experience for immediate employment in the San Antonio, TX office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate successful management of all phases of TxDOT transportation projects, with an emphasis in the Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) phase. Join a team of experienced transportation civil engineers designing major and municipal roadways. As part of the highway design team, you will have the opportunity to lead roadway design projects and follow through with the construction of major and municipal roadways. Additionally, the successful candidate could have access to design build projects and serve as a major Task Leader.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Plan, organize, and supervise work for a staff of professionals and technicians, including subconsultants

Schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering for mostly large scope roadway design projects

May develop and evaluate project plans and criteria for a variety of roadway or intersection projects

Verifies that applicable codes, engineering standards and environmental commitments are being met

Develops, assigns, and/or reviews and approves scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments

Tracks overall financial performance of project/task assignment, which includes coordinating with management and operations to monitor performance of each project assigned

Facilitate project decisions regarding technical approaches and strategies, issue resolution and solutions, cost and scheduling performance reviews

Organize and conduct internal, external and client meetings

Actively involved with clients and business development including proposal assistance

Delegates work to, mentors, trains and supervises less experienced staff to complete assignments

Participates in public meetings and presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Transportation Engineering

  • 15+ years of relevant project experience, including 10+ years' PS&E design experience, and 10+ years' TxDOT experience

  • Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and process TxDOT precertifications for various categories

  • Proficient with TxDOT Design Standards

  • Experienced with proposal development, client presentations and relationship development

  • Good Communication Skills

  • Valid driver's license

  • Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals on a large-scale transportation project

  • MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Geopak proficient

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience preferred serving as a Project Manager for TxDOT projects.

  • Third party coordination management experience (such as public utilities, transit agencies, or other agencies having jurisdiction within a given client project corridor)

  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control compliance experience in a senior capacity

  • Multiple TxDOT precertifications in Route Studies and Schematic Design, Multi-level Interchanges, Major and Complex Roadway Design, and basic Hydraulic Design
