Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health, & Environment Specialist for employment in Saint Louis, Missouri.

The SH&E Specialist will support AECOM Project Managers, Task Managers, field staff in achieving excellent safety performance at environmental project sites through implementation of our Safety For Life Program. SH&E Specialist responsibilities will include:

  • Be a source of SH&E information for the AECOM St. Louis office, with particular knowledge of AECOM SH&E requirements and operating procedures of our Safety For Life Program.

  • Actively communicate with employees regarding Safety (e.g., present safety moments at meetings, bulletin board postings, email announcements regarding training).

  • Identify employees who are subject to medical monitoring and/or drug or alcohol screening, and help to confirm annual medical monitoring is completed when required.

  • Assist with conducting Safety focused audits and inspections with project personnel and assist with tracking corrective actions.

  • Organize and lead office Safety Committee.

  • Assist with implementing Office Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPP) and identifying employees or visitors who may need assistance during an emergency.

  • Assist Project Managers and Task Manager in the preparation of a project Safe Work Plan, and Task Safety Analysis development and review.

  • Promote and encourage employees to report safety observations, near misses and incidents, and assist with implementing corrective actions.

  • Learn the Safety For Life root cause analysis model and assist Project Managers in drafting investigation reports.

  • Conduct periodic audits of project site activities to ensure safety, health, and environment plans and policies are being followed. Coordinate corrective action with supervisors and managers as necessary.

  • Identify and assist in the procurement of safety equipment and devices

  • Interact with customers and potential new clients on safety related matters

  • May occasionally assist Project Managers or Project Task leads with the collection of environmental medial samples at project sites.

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Safety construction experience and environmental remediation construction.

  • 3 years experience

  • Degree or Certification in safety.
