AECOM Civil Design Manager - Water in Sacramento, California

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Civil Design Manager with Water/Wastewater experience to be located in the Oakland, CA or Sacramento, CA office. The Civil Design Manager will join our rapidly expanding Water Civil Design Group.

The successful candidate will work with a world-renowned team of engineering professionals on multiple water resources and municipal water infrastructure projects in California and around the US. Main responsibilities include leading the design team in developing civil designs, and in the production of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages for water agency clients. Water resources projects may include dams and appurtenant structures, levees, outlet works, tunnels, and canals; and municipal water infrastructure projects may include water and wastewater treatment facilities, combined sewer overflow facilities, sanitary sewer stations, booster pump stations, transmission and/or distribution mains. The candidate will lead design teams and will have the skills necessary to lead the civil design and production teams.

Responsibilities of this position may include, but not limited to:

  • Leads the civil design for water resources and municipal infrastructure projects.

  • Leads the production team of engineers and CAD professionals in the development of Plans, Specs, and Estimates (PS&E) packages.

  • Coordinates with project managers, project engineers, and technical design disciplines to develop design packages.

  • Coordinates with clients and attends client project meetings.

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing PS&E package.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Performs quality control review of design drawings, specifications, and estimates.

  • Helps compile technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree plus 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • California Professional Civil Engineer’s (PE) license or ability to obtain license within 1 year of hire date.

  • Water infrastructure project experience in the evaluation, planning, design, and construction of the following projects:

  • Dam infrastructure, appurtenant facilities, levees, canals, or tunnels

  • Water / Wastewater Treatment Plants, Combined Sewer Overflow Facilities, Pump Stations, Water, Sewer, Stormwater and/or Lift Stations

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing PS&E packages for large civil infrastructure projects

  • Strong experience in team coordination and leading groups of designers

  • Hands-on experience with CAD, BIM, and/or Civil 3D
