The Design and Consulting Services Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and experienced Project Engineer for immediate part-time employment (minimum 20 hours) in the Transportation Group in the Sacramento, California office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established education in Surface Transportation, planning and design. The successful candidate will serve as a project engineer and can look forward to supporting a wide range of planning, preliminary engineering, and final design projects for roadway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities. This position is for a transportation engineer who will be part of a team that includes planners, engineers, environmental scientists, landscape architects, and other support staff.

The primary responsibilities for this role are expected to include:
Provide a support/deputy role in project management and administration including tracking and managing budget, schedule, and quality of deliverables; writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
Play a support role in business development, client relationships, strategic pursuits, and preparation of proposals, budgets and scopes of work.
Participate on multidisciplinary teams on civil engineering projects in an office environment as well as in a virtual team environment.
Serve as project engineer on small- to mid-sized projects and work on several projects concurrently. Take the lead in evaluation of alternatives and resolution of key technical questions.
Prepare studies, design criteria, design reports, plans and specifications, and quality assurance reviews of related designs and construction plans, and support of construction.
Organize, draft and coordinate production of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation.
Organize, draft and coordinate production of engineering drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy.
Assist with construction support activities to verify compliance with specifications; review and approve submittals; conduct field site visits; resolve technical issues and design changes; review progress versus schedule.
Oversee and direct junior technical staff in field activities including site inspections; instill culture of safety in all employees by promoting and following company health and safety guidelines and policies
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering or other related field
10+ years' experience in transportation engineering
Basic knowledge of some industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as Land Desktop/AutoCAD, InRoads, InSite, and MicroStation)
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Registered Professional Engineer in California
Strong proficiency with Microstation and AutoCAD
Strong proficiency with Inroads or Civil 3D
