AECOM Environmental Scientist III in Rocky Hill, Connecticut

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Scientist III to join our Remediation team in Rocky Hill, CT. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services in support of Brownfield redevelopment.

Job Description

AECOM ’s Remediation, Restoration and Redevelopment Practice delivers innovative and often complex solutions to meet our clients’ objectives. Because we address many different impacted sites – from munitions to PFAS to algae blooms and beyond – every project in our global practice is different.

Our upcoming work plans include: Plan and direct Phase I through Phase III environmental activities, sampling and remediation programs, and critically evaluating analytical data, performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced project manager and/or engineer, proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignment, provides mentorship to junior level scientists/engineers, performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid US driver’s license with a good driving record

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

  • Travel is required up to 75% for fieldwork.

  • US citizenship is required.

  • Ability to travel periodically and conduct field work support

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, or Environmental Engineering.

  • 5+ years of Remediation or Engineering experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude is strongly preferred

  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER

  • Experience in Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are preferred

  • Passing Engineering-in-Training (FE) test is strongly recommended
