Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Senior Architect for immediate employment in our Roanoke, VA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems and will be able to independently determine and develops the most appropriate approach to solutions.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees finished plans, specifications, and material approval

  • Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings

  • Develops details and edits specifications

  • Adapts and modifying design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situations

  • Directs the activities of architectural personnel

  • Coordinates design activities with other disciplines

  • Provides technical leadership to assigned projects to assure that all technical work produced is of high quality and within the context of schedule and budget

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree of Architecture or equivalent

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Licensed as a registered architect, preferably in VA

  • Strong technical skills and demonstrates experience in all phases of architecture project delivery

  • Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices

  • Strong client facing skills and exemplary communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Be able to work independently, in a team environment and as a project team leader

  • Be able to carry assignments to completion in accordance with project objectives, codes/criteria/standards, policies and procedures

  • May oversee the work of junior architects and designers

  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment

  • Working experience in a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and PowerPoint

  • Due to nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of working on large scale projects, preferably federal government and civilian project experience

  • Certification as a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC

  • Experience in Building Information Modeling

  • Experience with graphic design and other digital design tools/software
