AECOM Project Manager - Architecture/Engineering in Roanoke, Virginia

Job Summary

AECOM is hiring a Project Manager - Architecture/Engineering for our Roanoke, VA office.

The PM will be responsible for the day-to-day project and client management for multi- discipline architectural and engineering design services for buildings and facilities projects and teams from the initial planning through construction phase. The portfolio of work includes a wide variety of project sizes with a focus on Department of Defense and/or healthcare work.

Candidates must be willing to travel to client sites globally to support assigned projects. Travel estimated at 15-20%, but will vary based upon project requirements.

Duties include:

  • Working with the project Principal-in-Charge throughout all phases of the project to obtain client satisfaction and financial project performance

  • In conjunction with the Principal-in-Charge, successfully develop strategy, prepares proposals, negotiate contracts, and execute project(s)

  • Communicate with clients and project teams which will include public agencies

  • Development and management of project schedules and budgets

  • Quality assurance

  • May include management of teams across business lines, in remote locations and/or management of subcontractors

  • Business development and marketing support for proposals and presentations

  • Facilitate team communication, coordination and collaboration to support assigned projects

  • Collaborator and mentor less experienced employees

  • Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects

  • Responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business caused by flawless execution of projects

  • Consistently delivers profit margins planned

  • Consistently completes project without write-downs or multiplier erosion

  • Typically manages projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors)

  • Manages more complex clients and projects

  • Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such

  • Directs staff to operate and minimize exposure to claims

  • Supervises and directs Project Managers with multiple projects or program of projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering discipline plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Project management experience managing multi-discipline architectural engineering building and facilities design projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education

  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Architect

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 or more years’ experience within an architectural/engineering profession

  • Management of U.S. Department of Defense projects preferred

  • LEED Accreditation is a plus

  • PMP Certification is a plus

  • Security Clearance is a plus

  • Experience in design-build and other alternate delivery methods

  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
