Job Description

​​​​​​​As a Regional HSE Manager the candidate will be responsible for leading HSE and Security in an assigned region. This will require engaging with employees at all levels and working directly with senior leadership teams and projects to ensure proper implementation of the corporation’s global HSE management system.

  1. Provide technical HSE support to the assigned business location with regards to incident management/investigation and workers compensation and ensure that operations are compliant with the various applicable HSE legislation across locations it operates.

  2. Develop and maintain an audit and inspection program to ensure compliance to the corporation’s internal requirements and ISO 14001/45001 requirements.

  3. Manage current HSE team (includes Joint venture personnel and subconsultants where required) across remote locations including Performance and Rewards process, resourcing and hiring of any new HSE staff.

  4. Influence leadership within an assigned location to ensure ongoing commitment to the corporation’s values and HSE leadership obligations as well as any other established objectives, to align expectations on focus of all HSE staff and to ensure the various HSE needs of Business Lines are met.

  5. Ensure regular monthly call with HSE team so they are aware of wider Regional or Global HSE initiatives, to track progress against local initiatives and ensure key lessons learned are shared with the wider team.

  6. Role is responsible to ensure any locally specific HSE procedures, forms, templates etc. remain current.

  7. Work with the business to set consistent annual performance targets for internal metrics, including development of a suitable core training program. Where needed implement regional initiatives and training to ensure performance is met.

  8. Manage data quality associated with monthly reporting. This includes management of internal corporate systems for quality control and timely closure of incidents, observations and any associated corrective actions.

  9. Prepare material for monthly region executive meetings as needed.

  10. Chair quarterly safety leadership meetings as the key vehicle to brief members of the executive team on current HSE issues and compliance with general and local requirements

  11. Facilitate implementation of any regional transformation plan initiatives relevant to the assigned region.

  12. Ensure investigations are performed for any recordable, or high potential, incidents and facilitate incident reviews with region leadership.

  13. Assist with key pursuits where HSE support is required and work with business development leads to ensure they understand the corporation’s HSE systems, capabilities, and available support at a project level.

  14. Support business to ensure external certifications e.g. ISO 45001 and other relevant certifications are maintained, including completion of internal systems audits and participating in external audits.

  15. Provide technical support to key projects around review of project level HSE documentation, including where needed client/contractor’s systems, and where required complete site visits and provide reports on key outcomes and any corrective actions. The regional manager may be required to assist project teams in start up of key projects to ensure proper HSE management system implementation.

  16. The candidate will be required to travel frequently to sites to perform internal audits and inspections as required by project teams or corporate initiatives

  17. Look for opportunities to promote the corporations HSE program and culture though industry events, joint audits with client/contractor HSE team and presentations to clients.

  18. Role is an active member of the Regional Operations Group and Organizational Resilience team.

  19. Act as an advisor to Office HSE committees to ensure successful operation as sustainability of this initiative.

  20. The candidate will be adept and skilled in establishing and maintaining internal business and external client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 4-year university degree or recognized equivalent in HSE, engineering or related field and must have been earned from a recognized and accredited university.

  • ISO 45001 Lead auditor desired.

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of HSE plans formation, emergency evacuation plans, resilience/security management as it applies to engineering consultancy/construction environments.

  • Proficient Writing and English-speaking skills are required.
