Job Summary

The Sustainable Development Division within the project Environment Department is searching or a dynamic and innovative professional with marine ecology expertise to join the Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced career professional with highly developed technical knowledge and organization skills.

This role is critical to implementing the Environmental Assessment and Approvals function, including communicating project’s environmental and sustainability standards to project departments and contractors, and providing advice on marine ecology issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice to stakeholders including consultants and proponents on marine ecology issues.

  • Administering the Environmental Assessment process at the Activity (project level) including day to day coordination of project timelines and deliverables, acting as an interface between project’s internal sectors, external proponents, and external Environmental Consultants.

  • Project Managing Environmental Consultants engaged to produce SEAs, ESIAs, and other environmental assessment related document

  • Identifying and contributing to planning and post approval initiatives in a dynamic and complex environment with tight timeframes, competing priorities and conflicting stakeholder needs, views and opinions.

  • Understanding the goals of each division and department and how those goals are aligned to the long-term strategy of the organization and specifically to the environmental services department.

  • Review and assessment of technical environmental assessment reports and documentation submitted in line with project policy and planning objectives.

  • Ensuring continued alignment of project’s environmental planning and approval systems with IFC performance standards and world’s best practice.

  • Participating as a positive and proactive member of project’s Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Team to match forecast project delivery demands.

Minimum Requirements

  • Have a track record of coordinating and delivering environmental assessment services under an advanced regulatory system at Major Capital Project, preferably, mega-project scale.

  • 7 to 15 years’ experience across the fields of environmental assessment and/or approvals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication & report writing and reviewing skills

  • Proven record of successfully coordinating environmental assessments or regulatory approvals.

  • Strong technical environmental skills across marine construction and natural environments and/or sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or similar.

  • A Master’s degree is preferred.
