Job Responsibilities/Duties

Washington River Protection Solutions is seeking a Manager to lead the Process & Control System (P&CS) Engineering department. The Manager will be responsible for design, development and day-to-day oversight of Operational Technology (OT) in support of Industrial Control System (ICS) in TOC. These include process control computer systems, process networks/infrastructure and process software applications used to support the TOC mission. P&CS Engineering is also responsible for establishing the vision, direction and the strategic plan for Operational Technology (OT) including automation and information management systems such that they support long term TOC objectives.

The Manager's duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Effectively lead members of the P&CS Engineering team including encouraging their professional development and establishing arrangements that allow them to perform effectively in their lead area;

  • Provide daily interface with P&CS Engineering staff, operations, maintenance, engineering management and vendors relating to work scope and milestone commitments;

  • Lead the development of a strategic plan and deployment plan for Monitoring & Control System including Automation and Information Management relating to process systems;

  • Provide a P&CS Engineering capability able to support TOC operations, maintenance and project delivery including the provision of specialist subject matter expert (SME) resources critical to the successful delivery of TOC scope;

  • Ensure that P&CS Engineering support staff are suitably qualified and experienced including the establishment and maintenance of any required qualifications;

  • Lead the establishment, implementation, ongoing life-cycle maintenance, assessment and interpretation of key process and control system processes, procedures, and standards, including:

o Plant installed software

o Safety instrumented systems

o Human-machine interface

o Alarm management

o Process cyber security

o Process software engineering

o Configuration management

o Wireless technology

o Process network and infrastructure

o Facility support software systems

  • Lead the design, development testing, deployment and maintenance of instrumentation, process control and productivity application and support software;

  • Lead the implementation of process control system computer security, software configuration management and software quality assurance programs;

  • Provide System Engineering-related support to facilities for vital safety systems including routine walk-downs and input to system health reports;

  • Lead the provision of process software development, monitoring and deployment of operations productivity tools in support of operations, engineering and maintenance;

  • Serve as the Cost Account Manager (CAM) for P&CS Engineering-related cost accounts;

  • Serve as the chair of the Plant Installed Software Change Control Board; and

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (BS) in Engineering, Computer Science or related field; and

  • Fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience; with five (5) of these years in process control and instrumentation systems and/or software engineering and four (4) years of experience working in the nuclear industry.

Desired Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of previous management experience.

  • Two (2) years of previous experience at the Hanford Site.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Professional Engineering registration.
