Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Rotating Equipment Planner (Millwright) to join our team at a Maintenance/Turnaround Project in AB. This is a Full-Time position and shift rotation is 4 days on, 3 days off. Selected incumbent must be based out of Red Deer, AB.

Responsible for maximizing system availability by applying planning and scheduling techniques and standard methodologies to effectively control maintenance/turnaround activities. Supporting to identify and manage all factors relevant to achieving a safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective maintenance execution. Pave the way for the team to succeed!


  • Develop and sustain an effectively planned maintenance/turnaround program

  • Under general supervision, executes front/end or field execution Workface Planning activities for a single construction/maintenance discipline.

  • Responsible for supervising and directing Workface Planning activities during the front/end and field execution phase for a single or multiple construction disciplines.

  • Steward the sustainment and improvement of maintenance business processes and related procedures to support a culture of accountability

  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to build an environment that fosters high performance, innovation, learning and initiative

  • Maintain, improve, and optimize our job plans, task lists, strategies and procedures utilizing continuous improvement initiatives and techniques

  • Review work scope change requests prior to their introduction into the proposed schedule

  • Manage an effective long-range maintenance plan, modify the plan for variations due to availability of resources due to operations, actual work completed or additional work requirements

  • Assist in the development of maintenance/turnaround programs and provide input and suggestions to improve effectiveness, processes, and procedures

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant policies and standards - including the Management of Change (MoC) process and maintenance business processes

  • Adhere to all health, safety and environment standards, and ensure effective actions and programs are in place to sustain safety and reliability performance goals

  • Monitor and maintain work requirements and requests paying special attention to contracts, projects, maintenance/turnaround and operations being run simultaneously or in conjunction with outages

  • Prepare job plans and maximize resources productivity with the planned cost ready for scheduling detailing parts, materials, special tools, external services and documentation

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Energy, Operations and Maintenance Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Energy, Operations and Maintenance Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - EOM Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Relevant trade certificate, diploma, or degree or equivalent technical and operational experience

  • Rotating Equipment Planning experience required

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite

  • SAP experience in maintenance/turnaround planning

  • SAP/Oracle or related system experience is required

  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups

  • Construction Safety Ticket (CSTS-09 or 2020)

  • Fall Arrest Ticket

  • Ariel Work Platform Ticket

  • Any other orientations, trainings, and tickets, requested by the client or project team

  • This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver's abstract for review


Preferred Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Millwright Journeyman or Red Seal is preferred.

  • Previous workface planning and/or project controls experience is an asset.

  • Excel Intermediate to advanced skills.
