Job Description
The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water/Wastewater Sr. Conveyance Technical Leader, who will also serve as a Client Services Manager, with a focus in water/wastewater infrastructure design, with in-depth design engineering experience in municipal public right-of-way conveyance and pumping systems, for immediate employment in our Raleigh, NC office. This leadership role within AECOM offers an exciting opportunity to focus on a mix of client business growth, technical leadership in municipal conveyance design, project delivery leadership and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater engineering expertise. The appropriately qualified applicant will be a seller/doer and have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water, wastewater, and storm water design projects including collection and distribution pipelines, pumping stations, water/wastewater treatment facilities, and storage systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Collaborate with regional and national AECOM experts in the Water Business Line and across business lines to bring cutting edge solutions and teams to our clients, and to seek new municipal business opportunities with existing clients
Work with senior technical staff and marketing staff to deliver winning proposals.
Conduct planning and staff meetings.
Oversee the successful delivery of technical work.
Serve as Seller/Doer, Project Manager, and technical lead for the planning, design, permitting and construction of water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects
Oversee project elements including reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and construction phase engineering services.
Perform project management activities including coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies; scope, schedule, and budget development; project team coordination; interdisciplinary coordination; budget and schedule tracking; invoicing; and payment of subconsultants and contractors.
Supervise and mentor junior staff and provide professional growth opportunities for team members – with a focus on water/wastewater conveyance.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field, and a minimum of 10 years of experience.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer.
10+ years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience including the planning, design, and construction of municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, including new construction in public right-of-way, condition assessment and rehabilitation/renewal, and public right-of-way utility relocation.
Strong project management fundamentals and a proven track record of providing technical leadership to deliver water and wastewater projects successfully
Experience supervising other engineering professionals, and strong staff development, mentoring, and management skills.
Experience communicating and coordinating effectively with diverse audience groups including clients, the public, regulatory staff, subconsultants, and internal technical staff.
Must have a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in NC or have ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of employment.1
5+ years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience including the planning, design, and construction of municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, including new construction in public right-of-way, rehabilitation/renewal, and public right-of-way utility relocation.
Experience in preparation of engineering proposals for submission to clients, and in business development.
Experience in managing and/or delivering projects by “alternative delivery” approaches including design/build, progressive design/build, and construction management at risk.
