Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Manager Scientist/Engineer for the Raleigh, NC office. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM Remediation Engineers and specialists across the US, and will have the resources of more than 3,500 regional staff available to assist in project delivery. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background as a senior Hydrogeologist as well as a vast knowledge of Aquifer field testing

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support groundwater modeling and/or geophysical investigations

  • Execution of projects involving soil and groundwater investigation, compliance, and remediation activities in accordance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, CERCLA, NCDEQ, and other regulatory programs

  • Lead, manage, and mentor technical teams

  • Lead marketing/proposal and client development efforts

  • Provide office support for data management and report preparation

  • Maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering

  • 10+ years of environmental experience, an expert in multi-mediate contaminant assessment and remediation

  • Aquifer field testing, groundwater fate and transport modeling experience (Modflow, GMS, etc.) and/or geophysical instrumentation/interpretation experience

  • Project/program management experience

  • Good communicator, self-motivated, safe-work behaviors

  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects, maintaining project continuity, progress, and project profitability

  • Form, develop and manage successful project teams

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)

  • Must be able to write and convey thoughts, and organize data in an efficient and clear manner; have excellent attention to detail; effectively multi-task, and desire to contribute to a dynamic team

  • Excellent report writing, data organization, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently with diverse staff in the office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round)

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering

  • Experienced with VOCs, metals, petroleum contamination

  • Experienced in soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well drilling, vapor intrusion evaluation and construction management

  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training (29 CFR 1910.120)

  • Manage and support projects involving soil and groundwater investigation, compliance, and remediation activities in accordance with the Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, or other regulatory programs. Tasks include:

  • Assist with development and management of project scope of work on time and within budget

  • Providing management and/or supervision of field services, including site investigations, drilling, UST removal, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work

  • Overnight travel necessary

  • Provide office support for data management and report preparation; and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms
