AECOM Geologist III in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist III for employment in Raleigh, North Carolina office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems

  • Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions

  • Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments

  • Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives

  • Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources

  • Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance

  • Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA Geology or Environmental Science

  • With 4 years in soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well drilling, vapor intrusion evaluation, and construction management and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must possess a valid driver’s license

  • The position is based in Raleigh, NC and may require out-of-State/overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Geology or Environmental Science

  • Preferred PG or PE

  • Good communicator, self-motivated, good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, and competent use of safe-work behaviors

  • Must be able to write and convey thoughts; organize data in an efficient and clear manner; have excellent attention to detail; effectively multi-task; and desire to contribute to a dynamic team

  • Strong scheduling, team building, and budget management skills

  • Project/program management experience, AECOM Certified PM or able to obtain AECOM PM Certification within 6 months of employment

  • Ability to work independently and concurrently on multiple projects, maintaining project continuity, progress, and project profitability

  • Strong core skill, such as remedial investigations, remedial design, geophysical investigations, aquifer testing/modeling experience, etc

  • Personnel management

  • Lead marketing, proposal and client development efforts

  • Broad contaminant contamination experienced (VOCs, metals, petroleum, PFAS, etc.)

  • OSHA 40 training with current 8hr. OSHA Supervisors training

  • Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, ArcGIS, EQuIS, Python, R; are desirable
