AECOM is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Indigenous Community Engagement and Communication Specialist to join our team of community engagement, communication, graphic design, facilitation and web design specialists. Our preferred candidate should have experience in project coordination and administration, especially for projects related to environmental sciences and socio-economic disciplines. This is a permanent full-time position preferably based out of our Montreal, QC office but can also be based out of any of our other Canadian locations. This position will report to the Manager, Community Engagement & Communication.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Working with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers to develop and implement strategic Indigenous community engagement and communication plans for large environmental assessments, transit and infrastructure development projects
Preparing and implementing communication, engagement and outreach strategies to inform and involve rightsholders and stakeholders
Planning for and delivering in-person and virtual meetings, with clients and interested rightsholders/ stakeholders
Working with our in-house team of design and multi-media professionals, create communication materials including discussion guides, videos, presentations, story boards, postcards, factsheets, websites and notices
Evaluating the effectiveness of engagement and communication programs and services, and making the necessary adjustments to keep people in the know and engaged
Supporting the growth of the community engagement portfolio through the development of project proposals and other business development activities
Supporting the project compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and coordination of AECOM’s quality control program
Coordinating contracts, budgets, commitments, expenditures, invoices and project performance
Miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis

Fluently bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
A degree in public relations, communication, environmental planning or a related field (or equivalent related work experience), with a strong interest in community engagement
4+ years of experience engaging and working with Indigenous peoples
4+ years of experience in environmental planning, community relations, communication, socioeconomics or a related field
Must possess a valid class G driver’s license and vehicle
5+ years of experience engaging and working with Indigenous peoples, environmental planning, community relations, communication, socioeconomics or a related field
Familiarity with environmental assessments processes (federal and provincial)
Professional writing experience including plain language, AODA, web-content, internal and external communications
Familiarity with contemporary Canadian and international Indigenous reports and standards (e.g., UNDRIP, FPIC, TRC, MMIWG), and understanding of Indigenous case-law and legal precedence in Canada
Strong knowledge of project management concepts and processes
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and remotely if required
Ability to express ideas logically, clearly and concisely
Experience with online and virtual engagement including social media
Experience with Adobe Suite, WordPress, Survey Monkey, Engagement HQ, Social Pinpoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx
IAP2, CPRS, IABC, IAF membership or certification
Ability to work independently and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team
Strong communication, report writing, organization and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical, planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills
