AECOM NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader /Mid-Level Bridge Engineer in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Summary

AECOM currently has an opportunity for an NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Bridge Engineer to join the growing team of professionals in our Transportation Bridge Group in Providence, Rhode Island . In this role, your time will be split between NBIS inspections of in-service bridges and various bridge design projects.

Specifics of the role include:

Bridge Engineer Duties

  • Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final design of new bridges. Independently be able to perform these tasks for basic structures or propose solutions for more complex structures

  • Perform assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges

  • Perform and check Load Rating of existing bridges

  • Provide guidance to entry level Engineers

  • Proficient in the use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex bridges and other structures

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight project schedules with little supervision

  • Preparation of bridge plans, technical specifications, technical reports, design calculations, and provisions of construction phase services

Bridge Inspection Team Leader Duties

  • Perform NBIS/NTIS inspections

  • Prepare cost and man-hour estimates

  • Schedule inspections and coordinate equipment and traffic control vendors

  • Prepare reports, opinions and recommendations for the clients concerning the structures

  • Serve as quality control reviewer

  • Determine critical issues and properly address them

  • Lead team members and tailor their inspection skills to form a cohesive inspection team

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering with four (4) years of experience, primarily in bridge inspection and design

  • Two (2) plus years of bridge safety inspection experience

  • Two (2) plus years project experience with RIDOT and/or other area State DOT’s

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of experience in bridge design and inspection

  • Successful completion of comprehensive FHWA/NHI bridge safety inspection training course.

  • A current P.E. license in RI and/or surrounding states

  • Experience with AASHTOWare BrR & BrM software is preferred

  • Additional NHI trainings, including fracture critical in Physical ability to perform field work around bridges and tunnels
