Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a driven, creative and talented Senior Architect for immediate employment in the Portland, OR office.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the Architectural design efforts on major projects from conceptual phase through Contract Administration

  • Acting as Architect of Record and responsible for the architectural technical design

  • Acting as a project Design Manager and discipline integrator

  • Providing technical and professional guidance to junior staff

  • Identifying, securing, and managing potential clients and projects

  • Assisting Business Line Manager in the development of new business and marketing efforts

  • Providing technical peer reviews to other internal projects

  • Leading, organizing and planning projects in collaboration with project managers and other disciplines

  • Supporting the proposal development process

  • Assisting in the development of architectural standards, model templates, and procedures

  • Actively engage with project team, consultants, clients, public entities, and the community at large when required to advance project design concepts and details

  • Deliver innovative design ideas that meet the goals of the project including the projects budget, schedule and applicable codes

  • Utilize the building codes to develop creative architectural solutions and provide interpretations that are creative and advantageous for the project and the client

  • Understanding the contractual requirements of the project and adhering to them

  • Advancing the work to be recognized as an industry expert and leader within the company

  • Clear demonstration of ability to be creative and have the foresight and maturity to use sound architectural judgement in solving complex and unprecedented architectural problems

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors of Architecture degree

  • 10+ years of experience with Architectural or A/E firm, specifically in multi-disciplined large project teams

  • Extensive experience in and documenting proof of design solutions including conceptual design sketches and concepts, design development sketches and drawings, and construction documents created and prepared as designer/project architect for institutional, commercial and federal projects

  • Strong technical skills related to codes, planning, and architectural design and detailing

  • Experience coordinating designs with civil, structural and MEP disciplines

  • Field experience with observing construction progress and capable of providing construction administration services

  • Experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff architects and designers

  • Ability to clearly communicate with Clients and peers

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Applications

  • Diversified knowledge of architectural principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields

  • Project Management and Client management skills

  • Valid driver's license

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong/proactive communication skills

  • Positive attitude Vision for career growth

  • Ability to use and advocacy of new project execution/collaboration software/tools including Bluebeam, OneNote, etc

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of Architecture degree from an NCARB accredited university or international equivalent Registered Architect (OR, WA preferred or able to quickly acquire those registrations)

  • Experience in the commercial, industrial, and mission critical market sectors is a plus

  • Active in professional societies

  • US Citizenship preferred

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance if needed

  • LEED AP or ability to achieve within one year of employment

  • Knowledge of codes and/or other guidelines such as NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, and the USGBC LEED Rating system

  • Knowledge and familiarity of trends within the A/E/C communities and industries
