Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced mid-level Hydrogeologist with strong technical experience to work within a team to perform technical work, manage tasks, and participate in business development activities.
The work is out of our Portland, OR office. We seek a technically proficient individual that has strong technical and management capabilities and demonstrated experience successfully addressing the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites, including strong experience with developing conceptual site models (CSMs) that detail contaminant sources, nature and extent, migration pathways, and fate and transport mechanisms.
A successful candidate must be able to write and convey thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills will be necessary to work in our collaborative team-oriented offices; strong interpersonal skills are a must.
Specific responsibilities include:
Working within a team of technical experts and leading teams to successful outcomes to meet clients’ needs
Developing clear and defensible CSMs for complex sites ranging from uplands to contaminated sediments
Data visualization and developing clear graphics able to convey technical concepts in an understandable manner
Evaluating complex environmental data sets, including the use of modeling and statistics, to develop the CSMs
Experience with complex flow and contaminant transport in hydrogeological and fluvial systems
Experience with human health and ecological risk assessments
Preparing, work plans, and technical reports, and presentations for technical meetings with clients and regulators
Engaging in regular client communication relating to project management and technical issues
Actively communicating with the technical team and Project Manger
Performing Task Management duties including managing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and health & safety
Assisting with proposals including understanding client/project needs and aligned scopes, schedules, and budgets
Participating in business development activities including meeting clients and attending conferences, seminars, etc.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to geology or hydrogeology or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
4+ years of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or regulator versed in contaminated site investigation and remediation
Professional registration or track to obtain professional registration
Knowledge of OR/WA state regulations
Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies
Experience completing contaminant fate and transport evaluation and mass flux estimates
Experience preparing 3D hydrogeological conceptual models
Experience developing and preparing reports for submittal and acceptance for technical clients and regulators
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients and project team.
Ability to write and review complex technical documents, perform high level review and strategy
Ability to prepare graphics and reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner
Ability to supervise personnel to execute both field and office work
Ability to write and review complex technical documents, perform high level review and strategy

Computer proficient in MS Office, and contaminant transport modeling, and a variety of statistical programs helpful.
