AECOM Electrical Engineer in Plymouth, United Kingdom

Job Summary

We are currently looking for a professional Electrical Engineer with post-qualification experience in electrical engineering to work within the AECOM Building Services Team based in our Plymouth and Exeter offices.

Our Plymouth office is located in Plumer House and is a base for a multi-disciplined group of over 70 staff. Our Exeter office is located at Winslade Park and is a base for a multi-disciplined group of over 90 staff. This team forms part of the building services MEP discipline whom form part of the larger Building Services engineering team in the AECOM South West and Wales region including Bristol and Cardiff.

The Plymouth and Exeter Building Services team are involved in a variety of local, national and international projects for various sectors including sustainability, defence, academia, healthcare, commercial & rail. The Plymouth office is one of AECOMs recognised UK centres of excellence for defence projects and so this sector currently forms a major part of the project work.

The role will primarily be to provide systems design and support the discipline and project leads.

This role will suit an electrical or building services engineer with some existing industry experience who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and looking to strengthen their career in building services electrical design within AECOM.

Core Accountabilities

  • Co-ordinates and undertakes discrete packages of work with other team members and disciplines (under the technical leads direction mainly for larger projects).

  • Provides specialised technical input for electrical systems.

  • Performs AECOM Technical Quality Procedure tasks.

  • Provides succinct packages for work for review by others.

  • Contributes to technical direction for studies and design efforts.

  • Contributes to complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Participates in development of technical proposals.

  • Contributes to preparation of specifications, schedules, drawings, calculations and any other contract deliverables when needed.

  • Liaison with Clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, trade contractors and other designers.

  • Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of the project.

  • Receive, file, distribute, issue and track design documentation in accordance with AECOM policy

  • Completes compulsory and set training modules and development

Minimum Requirements

  • A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example; Education, Defence, Healthcare and Commercial projects.

  • A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.

  • Be comfortable working from a mixture of home or office environments with virtual communication platforms.

  • Able to act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way to enhance and protect AECOM.

  • Report writing skills, contribution to client presentations and attending meetings with clients.

  • The successful candidate must have already attained or be eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance within the probation period.

  • Technical Ability

Candidates will benefit from proficient use of the following systems:

  • Microsoft office suite of products

  • Autodesk products: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks

  • Trimble Prodesign

  • DIALux or Relux

  • Filesharing platforms: Projectwise, BIM360

Preferred Qualifications

An Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering degree

A member of a professional Institution (e.g. IET or CIBSE) and looking to achieve professional incorporated and chartered status
