Job Summary

AECOM is multidisciplinary building consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager who is qualified MRICS OR APM to be based in our Exeter office.

You will be part of a team providing comprehensive, accurate and value driven project management services on our building projects as part of a wider multi-disciplinary office who offer a full service to our Public and private sector clients.

Job Summary:

You will have clear experience of working in a team delivering complex construction projects. We are looking for you to striving for technical excellence in a buildings environment as you work with our local Project Management and Quantity Surveying team to keep projects on track.

Ideally you will have good contract knowledge (NEC3 and JCT) and commercial understanding as these are an essential part of the role alongside risk, schedule and stakeholder management abilities. You should also be familiar with procurement routes, market conditions and built environment practices in multidisciplinary teams.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be expected to successfully manage a small team and deliver projects across a range of sectors from Residential, Education, Local Authority, to Commercial. We work on both new build and refurbishments and our projects range from a couple of Million to larger 20M+ schemes.

About the Team:

AECOM Building & Places have secured a range of UK Frameworks relating to government and commercial projects, which our Plymouth team plays a key part in delivering.

You will be joining a highly skilled and respected multi-disciplinary design team in our Exeter office of 100 staff. We work on a varied, complex and interesting projects which will give you a broad range of experience as you grow with us.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for progression and security in the Devon and South West region to join AECOM and professionally develop in a smaller, friendly office environment but with the backing and projects of a much larger consultancy.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time

  • Produce high quality project management documentation and manage tools which aid the delivery of schemes. This includes, but is not limited to Project Management Plans, Risk Registers, Contract management trackers, schedules or programmes.

  • Develop strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team

  • Ensure business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross- selling opportunities, are identified and acted upon.

  • Engage with and support the technical excellence agenda within the project management discipline.

  • Management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience as a Project Manager in a comparable consultancy business.

  • Evidence of project management specific training (APM, MRICS).

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.

  • Built environment and project experience.

  • Experience of managing projects involving multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a degree in Project Management/ Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying.

  • Professional status with the RICS, APM, ICE or other equivalent institution.

  • Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate.

  • Having car and a driving licence would simplify your commute but is not essential.
