AECOM Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

AECOM is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our expanding water engineering practice. The selected candidate will become part of an established water engineering practice working on prominent wet weather remediation design, programs, study and rehabilitation, water and wastewater treatment, potable water distribution and storage, and pumping station projects in the Pittsburgh region as well as significant projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Candidate will manage, plan and lead engineering tasks and design projects for sanitary/storm/combined sewer collection systems (including large diameter pipe,) pumping stations, lift stations, force mains, interceptors, water distribution systems, green infrastructure, hydraulic evaluation and design, developing design reports, and construction documents and specifications, as well as construction oversight and administration.
Will be responsible for maintaining current and building new relationships with clients, leading and supporting key pursuits and functioning as a lead engineer or project manager on major projects across Pennsylvania.
Support and facilitate new project pursuits for water and wastewater services.
Projects will include pipelines, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment facilities, water resources levees, canals, reservoirs, and dams.
Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and proposal writing skills with the ability to interact effectively with design, management, and operations and maintenance personnel.
Proven initiative and leadership qualities
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required from an ABET accredited university.
6 – 15 years of experience in water/wastewater infrastructure planning and design
Proven client relationship and management skills, at all client levels (staff to executive).
Candidates must be knowledgeable of Pennsylvania water issues and trends and possess a proven track record in delivering engineering services for large-scale water projects.
Professional Engineering License in the state of Pennsylvania or the ability to acquire such license in the state through reciprocity within six months of employment.
Experience as a Project Manager on water engineering projects, preferably with an expertise in sewer infrastructure design and rehabilitation, wet weather programs, potable water systems, pumping station design, and infrastructure with large diameter pipe.
Experience in sewer evaluation and design for replacement and rehabilitation, knowledge of trenchless technologies including; CIPP, slip lining, various tunneling methods, HDD, and large pipe rehabilitation.
Experience with alignment evaluation, hydraulic evaluations, conceptual design, and material selection, through detailed construction design, including preparation of plans, specifications, and contract/bidding documents.
Experience with client management: defining the problems, defining short term and long term objectives, identifying site/physical/regulatory/flow/environmental/stakeholder constraints and obstacles, and communicating these conditions to the client effectively.
Experience with clients in the Pittsburgh, PA and western Pennsylvania market.
Experience in supporting business development activities such as proposal writing and presentations.
Strong team leadership and mentoring skills.
Firm grasp of general heavy construction principles, and experience in construction phase engineering services.
Experience with water / wastewater permitting in Pennsylvania; and a working knowledge of Federal, State and local jurisdiction permitting regulations.
