Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Design Group Lead to lead our Pittsburgh Design Group and focus on building our design services offerings in Western Pennsylvania for Water/Wastewater projects. The selected candidate will become part of an established water engineering practice working on prominent wet weather remediation/rehabilitation design, programs, study and rehabilitation, water and wastewater treatment facilities, potable water distribution and storage, and pump station projects in the Pittsburgh region as well as significant projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region..

Candidate will be supported by experienced local and regional design staff and seasoned local and regional management staff.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Pittsburgh office water design group

  • Mentoring and guiding water/wastewater design staff and project managers.

  • Supporting large-scale wastewater planning efforts.

  • Leading design pursuits

  • Maintaining current and building new relationships with clients, leading and supporting key pursuits and functioning as a project principal or manager on major projects across Pennsylvania

Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and proposal writing skills with the ability to interact effectively with design and construction teams, management, and operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Proven initiative and leadership qualities

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution

  • Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania

  • 12 or more years’ experience in municipal water and wastewater planning, design, and management.

  • Proven client consulting and collaboration experience

  • Proven client relationship and management skills, at all client levels (staff to executive).

  • Experience with pipeline alignment evaluation, hydraulic evaluations, conceptual design, material selection, detailed design, including preparation of plans, specifications, and contract/bidding documents.

  • Experience with client management: defining the problems, defining short term and long term objectives, identifying site/physical/regulatory/flow/environmental/stakeholder constraints and obstacles, and communicating these conditions to the client effectively.

  • Firm grasp of general heavy construction principles, and experience in construction phase engineering services.

  • Experience with clients in the Pittsburgh, PA and western Pennsylvania market.

  • Candidates must be knowledgeable of Pennsylvania water issues and trends and possess a proven track record in delivering design services for large-scale water projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Water and wastewater facilities operations and troubleshooting experience
