Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Geologist II to be based in our Pittsburgh, PA office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin immediately.
The Geologist II will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
This position will also assist in the performance of regulatory compliance inspections, sampling, and reporting associated with the implementation of permit and/or regulatory requirements for commercial/industrial facilities.
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid US Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
Ability to travel up to 30 - 50% per business needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in Geology or Hydrogeology
3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting.
Experience with CERCLA and RCRA remediation programs at complex sites
Proficient with data analysis, modeling, and visualization using Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS), geographic information systems, database systems, and numeric computing environments
OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training
Professional Geologist License
Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells
Experience in the collection and evaluation of environmental data in field and office settings.
Experience with ArcGIS
Familiarity with State (i.e PADEP, NJDEP etc) and Federal Environmental Regulations
