AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Aviation Engineer for immediate employment for the Phoenix, AZ office. Candidate will be responsible for the management of one or more airfield design projects, in accordance with the written project/construction documents and established AECOM policies and procedures. This hire will plans and direct the design of aviation project(s) through the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout phase of the projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Administer one or more design projects, to include responsibility for budget, schedule and quality adherence and performance, in accordance with the contract documents and established procedures.
Oversee the design & construction support activities for each Aviation projects at Air Carrier and General Aviation Airports.
Manage and coordinate the project design team, which may consist of one or more Design Engineer(s), CADD Designers and other support staff.
Provide documentation as required by client for the administration and execution of each project.
Evaluate and provide recommendations for changes and/or modifications to the design and construction scope of services.
Participate in marketing and business development activities including client interaction, conference attendance, proposal preparation and presentations for new work
Supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit.
Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.
Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.
Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Degree in engineering required.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in designing aviation projects at air carrier airports.
Arizona PE license, or ability to obtain.
Experience designing construction projects in an active airfield environment, Part 139 airports preferred.
Knowledge of and experience in writing a Construction Safety Plan, project specifications, a Design Report, a QA/QC Plan, a Document Control Plan, and a Project Procedures Manual.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of the FAA Advisory Circulars (AC’s), FAA Design criteria, and FAA and ADOT Grant Processes and Procedures.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Project, and AUTOCAD Civil 3D.
Ability to design/manage multiple aviation projects and work with staff.
Must be able to obtain commercial airfield security clearance.
Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license, and be able to obtain certification to drive in AOA movement areas.
Capable of using City Of Phoenix document control system, Unifier.
Design/management experience at Arizona commercial airports.
