The Design and Consulting Services Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and experienced Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in the Transportation Business Line. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established understanding in Surface Transportation, planning and design. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The successful candidate will initially be assigned to the Interstate 11 (I-11) Tier 1 EIS as part of the roadway engineering team. They can also look forward to supporting a wide range of planning and preliminary engineering projects for roadway, transit systems, and/or managed lanes. The successful candidate will assist project engineers on various projects involving transportation plans, traffic safety, and public involvement, and the overall preparation of CEQA and NEPA compliance documents. This position is for an engineer who will be part of a team that includes planners, project engineers, environmental scientists, landscape architects, and other support staff. Work location is Phoenix, Arizona.
Additional job responsibilities include:
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignements.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events as well as write concise and readable technical reports and documents.
Valid drivers' license.
Arizona PE or EIT with interstate highway design experience
Relevant experience in transportation planning and engineering for multimodal transportation projects.
Design experience using FHWA and ADOT standards.
Experience with FHWA, State, and local transportation planning, traffic, and environmental processes.
Strong written communication skills and the ability to write concise and readable technical reports and documents
Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills.
