AECOM Microgrid Power Systems Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Microgrid Power Systems Engineer to be based remotely.

Activities and responsibilities for the position includes:

  • Develop models of the microgrid electrical power and energy systems using analysis tools to verifies stability, interoperability, or scalability of system architecture and network design

  • Conducting studies, to determine system stability under all microgrid operational modes. The studies may involve load flow, short-circuit, LV/MV coordination, arc flash, and compliance with state/federal/ISO regulatory requirements including NERC/FERC

  • Perform the detailed design to deliver the following

  • One/three-line diagrams

  • Protection and control logic

  • Cable sizing/routing

  • AC and DC systems calculations

  • Grounding

  • Participates in design, deployment and commissioning of microgrids and microgrid control systems

  • Contribute to proposal development and project scheduling

  • Documents designs, develop specifications, system approval test procedures and instructions, and other system-related information

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in an electrical field

  • AECOM encourages, but does not require, its employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. However, this position is on a project or a worksite, which requires workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Are you currently vaccinated, or are you willing to receive a vaccination before you begin employment? Proof of vaccine will be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • PE License

  • 8 years of experience in an electrical field

  • Etap, PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE or DIgSILENT software experience

  • Digital protective relay programming and commissioning

  • Electrical machines dynamics and testing experience

  • Experience in energy storage, solar, wind systems technologies and architectures

  • Power electronics controls and architectures

  • Familiarity with standards such as IEEE 1547, CA Rule 21, and IEEE 2030

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The midpoint of the salary range is $160,000.00 annually (exempt)
