Job Description
The AECOM Phoenix, Arizona office is seeking a Junior-Level Civil Engineer to join our Geo-Civil team. Our strong presence in the region opens the doors to significant and interesting projects in the mining, dams, and power sectors. In this role there is opportunity to grow technical and non-technical skills alongside a team of seasoned professionals while being given ownership that will stretch your potential.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop visual aids
Undertake preliminary and detailed design activities
Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within Autodesk Civil 3D
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Oversee and direct data collection and analysis activities
Prepare technical memoranda, preliminary, detailed design reports, and technical specifications
Review of quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy
Develop engineering design skills through periodic field experience. This may include construction support, site inspections, and geotechnical investigations.
Provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions.
Work as part of a team to complete assignments
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS in Civil Engineering + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid US Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong technical progression within Civil Engineering and Design
Experience using and designing with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Ability to travel
4+ years experience
EIT Certification is strongly preferred
PE preferred
Experience in mining is a plus
Experience in Dams is a plus
Experience in the Power sector is a plus
Additional Information
Relocation is not available for this role.
Sponsorship is available for this position.
Occasional project site travel (up to 20%) may be required for this position.
