Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join our Charlotte, NC office.
The position is scheduled to begin in July 2023.
Our established teams work along side CSX and Norfolk Southern to review, manage, and safely deliver third party projects across the eastern United States while maintaining railroad operations. Projects include replacement and rehabilitation of overhead bridges, replacement of undergrade bridges, adjacent vertical construction, at-grade crossing improvements, Section 130 safety projects, utility installations, and a variety of other projects.
The ideal candidate is organized, able to balance multiple tasks, and interested in being exposed to a variety of projects and client interaction.
This is a hybrid office and remote position.
Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review of plans and specifications for conformance with Railroad requirements
Review of construction submissions for conformance with Railroad requirements
Monitoring of construction (such as bridge demolition and erection) for compliance with approved construction submissions and potential impacts to Railroad property and operations
Coordination with Railroad, Agency, Designer, and Contractor
Preparation of estimates
Management of project budgets
This position offers room for additional responsibility and career growth within Class 1 Railroad programs.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Must have a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Be organized and detail-oriented
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Familiarity in freight rail clients
Previous work experience in rail is preferred
Familiarity with NCDOT
