AECOM Environmental Scientist / Engineer - Contaminated Land in Perth, Australia
Job Summary
As Remediation Site Manager, you will report to the Senior Project Manager and will be responsible for leading the successful contract delivery of remediation activities to meet the cost and quality criteria and project milestones. You will have a key role in managing and coordinating the various remediation operations including treatment of contaminated soil & groundwater, civil engineering & land-forming earthworks, remediation technologies and waste reduction, recycling & disposal. The role includes working as part of the AECOM Geosciences & Remediation Services team and will involve liaison with the Client and management of subcontractors.
You will work closely with the client and subcontractors to plan and execute the various remediation work packages designed by subject matter experts with the AECOM GRS Team.
The Role will include:
Supporting the development of Project Delivery Plans
Ensuring delivery of all operational activities in accordance with the Construction Environmental, Health and Safety Plan
Supporting the development of Environmental Management Plans, Traffic Management Plans and Materials Management Plans, and to review, update and maintain these arrangements as the remedial works progress
Keeping daily records of plant use and site activities
Coordination and cooperation of all site activities to ensure operations are being managed and maintained, including chairing daily site briefings
Reviewing all documentation to ensure Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) are in place for the site activities
Reviewing risk assessments and method statements to ensure hazards have been identified and suitable risk mitigation measures are in place
Plant and equipment records/certificates are current/valid
Records to demonstrate employees/operatives have the required skills, knowledge, experience and training (SKET) for the role
Delivering environmental remediation projects to meet budget and time requirements.
Providing technical advice (with the support of subject matter experts) in relation to site remediation activities such as soil and groundwater treatment, soil vapour and waste disposal.
Reviewing contaminated land consultant reports to evaluate remediation options and associated costs.
Obtaining regulatory approvals from all levels of Australian Government where required.
Assisting with the compiling of tender submissions including writing methodologies and providing costings.

Minimum Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering and/or Science
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as environmental practitioner
Proficient abilities in Microsoft Office is essential.
Excellent organisational skills and confidence in managing complex projects.
Ability to grasp new concepts very quickly, be adaptable and flexible.
Work in a wide range of environments from metropolitan sites to remote outback communities.
Sound understanding of scientific principles and relevant technologies.
Problem solving and innovation as an individual and as part of a team.
Ability to follow directions.
A team player with demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to cope with urgency, efficiency, assign work priorities and work in a high pressure environment.
Ability to travel both intra- and interstate as required.
Valid manual drivers licence.
Experience in the remediation and decommissioning of retail fuel service stations
Civil Construction experience preferred
Demonstrable safety, health & environmental management experience in the construction/ land remediation industry
Excellent stakeholder management skills including influencing and negotiation
Experience of coaching, training, influencing and negotiating with staff at all levels to implement
Preferred Qualifications
- Appropriate tertiary qualification(s) in environmental science, geoscience, hydrology, soil science, environmental engineering or a related discipline.
