Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our successful and growing Construction Services team in Paris!

In the role of Design Manager you will be involved in a in a long term program and you will be responsible for these duties:

  • Provide leadership and management for the development and execution of overall design concepts and intents for all assigned projects. Design includes Civil, Building, Steel structure, underground networks, fuel equipment, electrical and mechanical.

  • Manage execution of overall design concepts, through different stages, in accordance with the requirements.

  • Review and report to Program Manager, all Designers’ reports including areas of concern and recommended plans of actions.

  • Evaluate and endorse the variation orders/concession/assignment requests submitted by the Designers for Client’s approval.

  • Manage the process of Value Engineering and any necessary re-design activities

  • Aggregate bills of material and manage their submission and approval by designers

  • Review and check design according to Technical Assurance Plan

  • Ensure the shared comprehension of battery limits

  • Manage the integration of different designers into the project design

  • Ensure that designs are prepared taking account of safety for erection and subsequent dismantling

  • Monitor programme for availability of necessary designs and ensures that AECOM, Client, Designers and Contractors are aware of necessary key critical actions/decisions

  • Monitor Designs for compliance with Design remit, Quality Plans and Environmental Plan and Policies

  • Ensure implementation of QA/QC Procedures in line with Clients expectations and corporate standards

  • Issue Quality Non-Compliance Reports and follows through on corrective actions

  • Review Overall compliance with AECOM Policy and Quality Management Systems

  • Review and comment on all Contractor Quality plans relevant to Design Management

  • Any other duties that develop during this project or are needed to fulfill the main role and responsibility as described earlier in this document in a satisfactory manner

Minimum Requirements

  • Fluent in French and English

  • 10 year experience in design management in building or industrial sector

  • A leading example in compliance and ethics

  • Ability to work under pressure to tight dead-lines

  • Ability to handle at same time different projects at different stages

  • Travel for short periods when required to sites in France

  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-contractors team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
