Description of General Duties
Able to be a part of a geographically dispersed team responsible for the management of a classified and unclassified DoD network and related computer systems.
Provides operation and maintenance of hardware and software with minimal supervision in accordance with overall objectives and requirements of the Combined Tactical Training Ranges
Maintains and repairs personal computer and network equipment
Provides software maintenance, testing and debugging and installation of upgrades and new applications
Supports integrated communications operations and maintenance tasks to include monitoring data communications network and resolving problems, monitoring hub activity and performing diagnostics
Supports the development and review of approved procedures to those processes that users follow and updates work instructions accordingly. Explain user procedures for system operation and maintenance. Creates and delivers training for users and management.
Maintain up-to-date equipment and software inventories, and up-to-date network drawings.
Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions, operational difficulties, and remediate vulnerabilities
Assist the Network Operations Manager with the responsibility for assuring patches, upgrades and security issues are maintained to all current Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Navy (DoN) directives
Attends government meetings as required to report on and resolve range Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) data communication problems
Identifies areas of operation, which need upgraded equipment. Researches, tests, evaluates, and recommends data communications hardware and software
Primary POC for Simple key Loader (SKL) functions and training of additional personnel as necessary.
Primary POC for COMSEC functions at Pacific Beach.
Documents maintenance actions in IEMS
Minimum Education Level
Requires Associates Degree in an Technology related discipline (Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field) or at least 2 years of a combination of IT Training, IT Certifications and progressively relevant work experience in the areas of
Information Technology Management.
Minimum of two years experience in the following areas:
IT System implementation and maintenance such as computer systems and network servers, network interfaces and associated equipment
Experience configuring systems to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security
LAN level Network Administration of Layer 3 Routers, Switches, VLAN Configuration, Wireless Bridges
Communications (fiber-optic, multiplexer) equipment
Backups and Disaster Recovery systems
Database and software development, modification and installation
Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must possess and maintain an active DoD security clearance
This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 44 and as a condition of employment incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:
Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and;
Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor.
Documented formal training in Microsoft and Cisco systems
