AECOM Senior Civil / Environmental Engineer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Job Summary

The Environment Business Line at AECOM Technical Services is seeking an environmental engineer to join our Oshkosh, WI office as an environmental engineer leading to project manager. Responsibilities will involve supporting projects of various size and scope predominantly in an office setting in contaminant investigation, contaminant remediation, and civil design.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Candidates will work on a variety of environmental and civil engineering projects throughout the region.

  • Candidate will be expected to lead technical design activities and develop project specifications in support of environmental remediation and civil construction projects

  • Candidates will be responsible for providing technical oversight to subcontractors, documenting environmental construction activities and reviewing project specifications. Candidates with construction management, remedial technology evaluation, and remediation experience will be strongly considered.

  • Candidate will assist with project budget, plan and schedule management including preparation and review of invoices and work proposals.

  • Manage technical support staff, subcontractors and subconsultants.

  • In addition, candidates can expect to perform data management and analysis, prepare reports and assist in preparation of and delivery of technical presentations with clients and or regulators.

  • This position may have a field component; travel and some overnight travel may be required. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions.

  • Assist with developing external clients for environmental, civil, and construction projects. Pursue business development opportunities throughout the region and the technical practice groups.

  • Actively participate in professional and technical organizations.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and specific timelines.

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years experience in contaminant investigations, remediation, hydrogeology, and/or environmental sampling.

  • B.S. in civil or environmental engineering.

  • Ability to become licensed in Wisconsin in 6 months.

  • Strong communication skills, the ability to write, and the ability convey thoughts and ideas clearly.

  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions, and the confidence to ask questions to grasp objectives.

  • Ability and enthusiasm to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Ability to work proficiently with MS Office products and organize data clearly.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Successful candidates will be self-motivated and able to balance work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years relevant experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and data entry skills

  • Proficiency in using pumps, field instruments, and mechanical skills are beneficial

  • Knowledge of soil and groundwater remedial techniques

  • Development of bid packages that include technical drawings and construction specifications

  • Experience acquiring and manipulating spatial data and knowledge of GIS data and collection. GIS coursework preferred.

  • Previous experience in client facing roles with exceptional verbal and written communication skills in a consulting environment.

  • Excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, CAD and other computer applications. Experience with GIS software is a plus.
