AECOM Senior Geologist in Orange, California

Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Geologist for immediate employment to fill a full time telecommute position that would support an oil and gas program located primarily in California and the Western United States. Although the position will primarily be a telecommute position, it may require some occasional travel for group and project related meetings.
This position integrates into a team of environmental engineers, scientists and field technicians to provide leadership to junior level field staff on an established program.
The work targets technical knowledge of the areas of site investigation, remediation techniques, reclamation, oil and gas projects and contaminated site regulations.
Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.
Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self-initiated. Acts as advisor to management and clients. Oversees the work of less experienced scientists.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Working with teams in California and the West Coast in a remote/telecommute capacity
Conduct environmental investigation, cleanup, and permitting projects
Perform geologic and hydrogeologic studies
Perform Project Management duties including managing budgets, proposals, scopes of work, schedules, health &safety, and staff
Prepare technical work plans and reports
Direct staff in the execution of tasks
Provide QA/QC support
Provide client interface as required.

Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science.
8-12 years of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or regulator versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and allocation.
Knowledge of CA state regulations
Experience working in the oil and gas industry
Professional/certified geologist registration
Strong team worker,
Ability to write and review complex technical documents, perform high level review and strategy
Strong communicator
Behavior-base safety conscious
Detailed-oriented
Ability to supervise personnel to execute both field/in-office tasks
Professional registration or track to obtain professional registration
Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies
Experience completing contaminate fate and transport evaluations and mass flux estimates
Experience preparing 3D hydrogeologic conceptual models
Experience developing and preparing reports for submittal and acceptance for technical client and allocation support
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients and project team.
Ability to prepare graphics and reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner
Computer proficient in MS Office, contaminate transport estimating tools, and a variety of statistical programs helpful.
