AECOM Buildings and Places is seeking a Project Manager to be based in Orange or Los Angeles, California. The Project Manager will lead internal and external teams through successful project delivery and be the key point of contacts for our clients. We’re looking for a leader driven by a passion for delivering quality work, mentoring staff, and leading multi-disciplinary teams. While the opportunity encompasses a variety of project and client types, this role can immediately benefit our Federal Practice. AECOM’s West region includes California, Washington, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, and Hawaii with most of the region’s Federal work in California.

As a Project Manager, you will leverage your attention to detail and interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional projects on time and on budget. You will direct resources to ensure that the work process flows smoothly and act as the leader between the client and the inter-disciplinary team. In this role, you will provide leadership to the client, user groups (where applicable), and team by communicating project objectives, contract scope, terms, and schedule.
You are a team leader and will have the opportunity to lead not only from a project perspective, but from a practice and culture standpoint. The right person will be an integral part of our architecture practice in the region.
What you will do:
In partnership with the Project Director and/or Project Architect, you will lead a team, or multiple teams in the delivery of a wide range of projects
Prepare schedules, contracts, and manage internal accounting and reporting
Oversee the work of more junior designers and architects
Manage client, team, and project coordination through all phases
Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
Establish and manage client expectations both from a contractual and delivery perspective
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus a minimum of six (6) years of related experience managing multidisciplinary projects, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required
Professional Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) or Bachelor of Science in Architecture + Master’s degree in Architecture with 15+ years of relevant experience in design management and resolving issues, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Experience negotiating project scope, fees, managing project financial performance, and ensuring fiscal responsibility for projects through the design process
Registered Architect and/or Professional Engineer
Revit and BIM experience as well as experience in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office
Support Federal projects within the last 10 years through all phases of design and construction
DoD and Federal Civilian experience
Experience on Federal Design Build projects or P-3
Ability to be client facing and lead client discussions and charrettes
Security Clearance not required, but preferred
Able to travel and/or work remotely with teams
Proven ability to successfully develop client relationships and win work
Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope
Fluency in English is mandatory, another other language is an asset
