Job Summary

Mid-Level Environmental Engineer/Geologist

AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer or Mid-Level Geologist for employment in the Orange, CA office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers and assist with environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

Under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:

  • Assist Project Managers to successfully deliver projects on-schedule and on-budget utilizing internal AECOM systems

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks

  • Assist with environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team

  • Develop subcontractor relationships and manage implementation of their services

  • Assist in managing and coordinating complex field tasks involving groundwater monitoring, drilling and remedial construction activities

  • Assist with preparing permits and access agreements with numerous public agencies and other stakeholders

  • Assist with report writing tasks with the support of more junior staff

  • Task manage portions of a larger project

This is a Project Manager-track position, therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geology and 4+ years of related experience in environmental consulting for Federal, State, or private clients

  • Remedial investigation, remediation planning, or design experience

  • Cost estimating experience

  • Ability to travel for short-term regional project assignments/meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Geology preferred

  • 6+ years of experience in related field, preferably environmental consulting for Federal, State, or private clients

  • Applicants with the right experience but with a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural resources, Wetlands management, other planning, or an earth science-related field may also be considered

  • Experience with CERCLA RI/FS and RD/RA projects with commercial or DOD clients

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification is preferred, although consideration will be given to candidates working towards those certifications

  • Demonstrated technical writing abilities

  • Strong writing, communication, and team building/leading skills

  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
