Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a Geotechnical Technician to be part of the Environmental team in Carson, CA.
This full time position is for candidates with a background in geotechnical engineering, or related field. All tasks consist primarily of field related technical duties with minimum supervision. This position entails working outside of the office 95% of time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform soil density and moisture testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone method
Collection of organized and detailed field notes
Assist in providing construction oversight and safety oversight of subcontractors
Perform geotechnical and environmental sampling with the ability to understand and follow standard operation procedures
Oversee civil engineering tasks and ensure compliance with design specifications and adherence to Health and safety protocols.
Conduct environmental sampling as directed by the Field manager
Minimum Requirements
HS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check
Must pass pre-employment drug screen
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to perform moderate physically demanding work in indoor or outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including noise, chemicals, radiation and vibration. Position requires frequently standing/walking, working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, and lifting less than 25 pounds; often performing repetitive bending & stooping; occasionally working with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), climbing stairs, using portable ladders, performing keyboard/mouse operations, repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting of 25-50 pounds; rarely operating vehicles, working at heights, wearing fall protection, and working in confined spaces. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, safety boots/shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, and fall protection equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 10 Certification desirable.
6+ years of experience in construction specifically in solar power preferred
