Job Summary/Responsibilities
We’re looking for a leader of design excellence, one whose design philosophy and practice is driven by a passion for the federal market sector, for clients, for mentoring staff and for building business. The B+P federal practice includes Architecture, Building Engineering, Master Planning, Interiors, Asset advisory services, and Workplace Strategy. The candidate’s primary responsibility is to lead and grow an integrated multi-disciplinary federal practice with a focus on innovation, design excellence and thought leadership, while positioning AECOM in the delivery of projects for Federal defense and civilian agencies.
This position will have a dual reporting to the B+P US West Regional Business Line Leader and the B+P Federal Market Sector Leader for the Americas. The Regional Federal Market Sector Leader will be responsible for achieving annual sales goals through keen understanding of the federal building and design marketplace and ability to lead and win key pursuits. The Regional Federal Market Sector Leader will also work with client account and business line leaders in targeted pursuits and programs.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provides day-to-day administration of B+P federal market practice within the US West Region.
Will execute defined practice goals and business plan
Successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the federal market, regional client needs, and market drivers
Monitors the status of all B+P federal DoD and federal civilian market pursuits, programs, and projects
Works closely with internal and external general contractors on alternative delivery pursuits and projects.
Regularly reports regional status to the national federal market leadership team
Management and preparation of strategic/ key proposals, contracting and teaming negotiation, project management and establishing and sustaining relationships with key consultants to support the federal business
Responsible for the development and achievement of regional business line sales and revenue goals across all disciplines within Buildings + Places
Responsible for federal business performance at the end of each accounting period
Develops and executes strategic practice planning and market strategies
Prepares and executes business plans for area of responsibility
Leadership:
Collaborative and integrated delivery leader for all disciplines providing building and design services for federal market clients
Leads or assists in pursuit and client engagement periodically acts as program or project lead on strategic or mega accounts
Serves as business line client account manager for specific client relationships
Conducts presentations and briefs at the regional level
Leads all major recruiting efforts within the B+P federal regional practice
Works closely with both the Federal Market Sector leadership and Regional Market Sector leadership from other regions on the execution of key growth initiatives and strategies
Business Development:
Deep understanding of federal DoD or federal civilian clients and industry trends across planning, traditional A/E services, and alternative delivery acquisition strategies
Experience and skill in strategic business development, client relationships and driving sales and revenue
Lead capture strategy on key marketing and business development opportunities
Working experience and relationship with federal DoD Agencies (USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, National Guard) or;
Understanding and experience across federal civilian accounts (Coast Guard, NASA, DOE, etc.)
Experience with Design Excellence initiatives (i.e. GSA, DOS)
Understands alternative delivery strategies within the federal market
Ability to support and lead federal business development activities through early client interaction, scope of work development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface
Participate in developing annual business plan for the practice
Identifies new business opportunities while developing current client relationships
Develops and maintains positive relationships with consultants, contractors and jurisdictional/approval agencies
Lead or assist in development of fee proposals for marketing proposals as well as lead presentations with Business Line Leadership
Participates in local, state, or national professional associations and conferences
Staff Development:
Successful candidate will have a passion for leadership, mentoring, and career development.
Participates in interviews and recruitment of professional staff
Conducts employee performance evaluations, responsible for performance development
Participates in office design reviews and critiques
Works closely with senior project managers on the execution of federal projects
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Building and Design Architecture, Interior Design or related discipline plus twelve (12) years of related experience including four (4) years in leadership
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams
Proven ability to successfully develop client relationships and win work
Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope
Preferred 15+ years of relevant experience.
Security Clearance preferred, but not required
Recent experience with Federal Design Build or P-3
