AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Biologist to be based in the Los Angeles, CA or Orange, CA office.
This position is expected to begin in June 2021.

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Wildlife and botanical surveys
Environmental compliance monitoring, including coordinating with PMs, engineers, and construction contractors and conducting worker environmental awareness programs
Data collection, entry, interpretation and analysis
Preparation of technical studies and reports
Additional work or opportunities for skills development may include:
Preparing biological resources sections of CEQA and NEPA documents
Preparing and implementing mitigation, restoration, and monitoring plans
Sensitive species permitting (e.g. ESA Section 7 biological assessments)
Wetlands permitting (e.g. CWA Section 404 and 401, CDFW Section 1600)
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, soil science, agriculture, geology or any scientific related field)
Training in relevant biological disciplines (e.g., wildlife, plants, fisheries, herpetology, or entomology)
Working knowledge of California flora and fauna
Valid U.S. Driver's License
Master's Degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, soil science, agriculture, geology or any scientific related field)
Ability to map vegetation communities and identify sensitive habitat types
Familiarity with major environmental regulations and permitting
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to professionally interact with clients and resource agency representatives
Ability and desire to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions on field assignments ranging from a few days to weeks at a time
Strong field skills
Endangered species survey/handling experience
Experience working with construction crews and field engineers
Knowledge of GIS software and GPS equipment
Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, or other computer programs to enter, summarize, and analyze data
