Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Manager for immediate employment for the Orange, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Assist client during the design phase from schematic drawings to 100% construction drawings, assembly of specifications by interacting with designers and stakeholders

  • Review technical submittals for materials incorporated into the project, temporary structures and work plans

  • Oversee, review, and develop plans for construction monitoring and/or surveying. Organizes teams of engineers, inspectors and surveyors to oversee, verify or monitor construction activities. Insures timely review, interpretation and compilation of inspection and survey reports.

  • Understands and has experience with Construction Testing Disciplines, such as welding, non-destructive testing, electrical design and testing, rail design including trackwork components.

  • Supports in the review of quality engineering reports for test and equipment acceptance. Review quality program submittals for compliance, as required by contract documents

  • Review contractor requests for change and, when appropriate, assist in the preparation of contract change orders/modifications, including development of technical scope and justification. Participate in submittal, RFI, RFC, design submittal, claim reviews and responses

  • Maintain project management logs (RFIs, changes, submittals, construction documents, FF&E, close-out)

  • Assist Project Manager with controlling and monitoring project budget & schedule

  • Facilitate job walks and project acceptance by stakeholders

  • Contribute feedback that might make work safer, cheaper, cleaner, lower impact or any other way improve the operational success of the projects

  • Coordinate with local railroad operator for work with their right of way

  • Support business development efforts and help maintain client relationships

  • Supervisor for AECOM staff on project site

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience including, previous work performing structures inspection services (bridges, retaining walls, etc.)

  • Ability to use and reference the following:

  • Caltrans Falsework Manual

  • Caltrans Trench and Shoring Manual

  • Bridge Construction Records and Procedures Manual

  • Caltrans Foundation Manual

  • Caltrans Prestress Manual

  • Caltrans Deck Construction Manual

  • Ability to work in various environment (office and field construction sites)

  • Ability to work alternative shifts including weekends and nights

  • Driver license

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • CA Professional Engineer

  • Certifications for applicable CTMs, ASTMs and/or ACI procedures and take samples and perform field-controlled tests of construction materials for quality assurance

  • Previous experience working with in Caltrans Right of way performing structures inspection
