AECOM Entry Level Geologist/Environmental Scientist in Omaha, Nebraska

Job Summary

The AECOM Omaha office is seeking a highly motivated field geologist/environmental scientist to assist with environmental and remedial investigations for federal projects across the country. The candidate will be responsible for performing various media sampling and analysis field efforts; provide oversight of subsurface investigations; complete geologic logging and soil characterization using the Unified Soil Classification System; oversee installation and development of groundwater monitoring wells; analyze boring log data and generate subsurface cross sections and profiles; provide construction and subcontractor oversight; and prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, schedules, budgets, work plans, investigation reports, feasibility studies and decision documents.

  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.

  • Degree in science or related field required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology, environmental engineering)

  • Knowledge/Experience – General knowledge of basic geologic principles and the environmental sciences.

  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.

  • Technical Skills – Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.

  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

  • Experience with sampling, monitoring well installation, and subcontractor oversight

  • Experience working for DoD clients
