Position Title Traffic Engineer

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, highly talented Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in the Ocoee, FL office. The candidate will be part of the Intermodal Systems Development group, working on a wide variety of high profile projects that support the future of the Florida’s Turnpike System on existing roadways and new corridors. This position allows the candidate to be on the leading edge of transportation engineering analysis and modeling for connected/automated vehicles, express lanes, innovative designs and multi-resolution applications.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Participates in transportation planning assignments including micro-simulation, travel demand forecasting, corridor studies, safety studies, traffic and revenue studies, Interchange Access Request (IAR) documentation and Transportation System Management and Operations (TSM&O) studies
Prepares Traffic Technical Memorandums for Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies
Prepares Traffic Design/Concept Memorandums for design/concept and TSM&O projects
Prepares Signal Warrant Analysis and corridor retiming studies
Applies new/innovative design and evaluation ideas/techniques
Collects traffic data in the field when needed
Coordinates with other technical disciplines including conceptual design, environmental management, traffic operations, right of way and others
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
5+ years of relevant experience
Ability to acquire registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
Ability to independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Knowledge and experience with traffic analysis software, preferably Highway Capacity Software (HCS), SIDRA, Synchro/SimTraffic, and Highway Safety Manual tools (ISAT/SSAM)
Proficiency in the development and calibration of VISSIM micro-simulation models
Professional written and oral communication skills, with strong technical writing abilities and presentation skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must possess a valid driver's license
Master’s degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to one year of work experience
PhD degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to two years of experience
Programming experience in any modern language (SQL, Visual Basic, C++, Python, etc.)
Statistical analysis experience (SAS or SPSS)
Knowledge and experience with dynamic traffic assignment and multi-resolution modeling in VISUM/VISSIM
