Job Summary
Shimmick Construction is actively seeking a Project Manager for our Bay Area MEP Group in Oakland, CA This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity for MEP applicants with a background in MEP and construction projects.
Responsible for overall project performance including job profit and loss for MEP construction projects.
Job duties include but aren't limited to:
Participate in preconstruction meetings
Establish goals and milestones for document packages, and generally monitor project development to ensure it can be procured within budget and on schedule
Review and approve Subcontract drafts before issuance to Subcontractor
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all project stakeholders
Assign project team responsibilities; establish administrative procedures, develop performance goals, and follow up to assure compliance with all contract requirements
Development of effective communication protocols and mechanisms for resolving conflicts among various project participants
Prepare and submit owner Change Order Requests, review Owner Change Orders
Responsible for accurate cost coding and quantity tracking of self-perform work
Prepare and submit accurate monthly Job Status Reports.
Identify and manages risk and opportunities proactively and develops mitigation and capture strategies
Monitor the progress of construction activities and regularly communicate with relevant stakeholders
Manages Subcontractor performance; provide notices and take corrective actions for any performance or quality issues
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience working with construction of mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or PE (Professional Engineer) preferred
Project management - experience on public works construction projects in California
Scheduling - CPM scheduling / P6 and preparation of time impact analysis
Change management - preparing entitlement arguments on change notices and pricing of change work both forward pricing and time and materials
Subcontracts - experience in administering subcontracts
Cost - labor and cost tracking and control
Additional Information:
