AECOM Biologist/Environmental Planner in Oakland, California

AECOM is seeking a mid-level Biologist or Environmental Planner to support our rapidly growing and diverse workload supporting some of California's most exciting and important projects. We are seeking a flexible, adaptable, motivated, and career-minded environmental professional to join our team of more than 100 environmental professionals here in the Bay Area. As a large and fully integrated practice here in California, our current project workload offers the opportunities to work on nearly any type of project and support nearly any kind of industry including (just to name a few) dam removal and stream restoration; wildfire planning, response, and recovery; bridge, tunnel, highway, and other major infrastructure development; urban planning and development, and open space and applied land management.
Serves as a technical leader in assessing potential effects to plants, wildlife, and the environment resulting from projects
Provides creative strategies and recommendations for avoiding or mitigating project effects on the environment
Prepares field assessments, reports, and technical documents
Attends client and regulatory agency meetings in support of project development
Is an active and positive member of AECOM’s large Environmental practice in the SF Bay Area
Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or other environmental fields
4+ years of experience in biology and natural resources, including working knowledge of the federal and California Endangered Species Acts, Clean Water Act, California Fish and Game Code, and other pertinent regulatory laws in California and the West, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
The ability to work outside as well as in an office setting.
Strong detail-oriented work style, with excellent oral and written communication skills, and an accommodating and proactive attitude.
Experience conducting surveys for plant and/or wildlife species.
Working knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act. Experience preparing CEQA or NEPA sections.
Experience in regulatory permitting under the ESA, CESA, CWA, and CDFG Code; experience preparing necessary permitting documentation and agency submittals.
Experience leading or managing field efforts.
Experience supporting water, transportation, and energy infrastructure projects.
