We are seeking to appoint a Minerals and Waste Planner at Senior level to join our existing Minerals and Waste team which comprises specialist planners and environmental managers. The new team member would ideally be based in Chesterfield, although our Nottingham and Birmingham offices are also options.

As a Senior Minerals and Waste Planner, you will be involved in the management and production of a wide variety of planning and environmental consultancy services in relation to minerals and waste management developments. This includes the preparation of planning applications, negotiation of conditions/ agreements, EIA and environmental appraisals, assessment of alternatives, development plan representations, mineral safeguarding, stakeholder consultations, public exhibitions and information, site selection, appraisal and promotion, development feasibility, design and appeals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver, manage and coordinate the technical planning and environmental outputs as referred to above.

  • Liaise with clients, internal specialist environmental and design teams and, where necessary, sub-contractors.

  • Work in partnership with other members of the Environment and Sustainability team (both within the

  • Monitor and manage project budgets.

  • Identify and pursue business development initiatives and manage the preparation of technical and fee proposals.

  • Participate in internal and external meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Recent and relevant experience in minerals and waste management planning. The ideal candidate will be a planner who specialises in minerals and waste management with planning and EIA experience, post-qualification experience, including work in either industry or consultancy (or both).

  • Excellent report writing and oral communication skills, commercial awareness.

  • Able to work on own initiative and under pressure.

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project.

  • Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation and, preferably a working knowledge of EIA legislation.

  • Client focused with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach with a high level of commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Relevant post-graduate degree an advantage.

  • Licentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation.
