Are you a Project Manager or Engineer with strong analytical skills with some experience in the delivery of engineering projects?

If yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our established Water teams in the Midlands/ North where we are looking for people who make expert project management their focus and profession.

You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most high-profile projects for the UK’s largest water companies such as:

  • Severn Trent Water – AECOM has been appointed on major schemes Lot 1 of Severn Trent Water’s Design Services Framework for AMP7. Our portfolio of projects is building rapidly.

  • Environment Agency – AECOM has been appointed on multiple EA Frameworks, including Modelling and Mapping.

  • Thames Water – AECOM has positions across all scales of delivery including major projects such as Mogden STW upgrade, Thames Tideway Tunnel, Deephams STW upgrade and ‘Capital Delivery’ infra and non-infra schemes across the Thames region.

  • Wessex Water – AECOM has been appointed on several AMP7 frameworks, including the Capital Delivery framework.

In addition, there are opportunities to work closely with local authorities, government agencies and private clients on exciting design schemes in the Midlands area.

Key areas of accountability:

  • Take ownership of delivering projects to programme and budget from conception to handover, driving efficiency with responsibility for overall delivery to AECOM and our client.

  • Manage the project design and delivery cycle of water and wastewater network and treatment projects, taking delivery and budgetary decisions, identifying the need for design resources and specialist input across AECOM and our supply chain.

  • Work closely with our Water and other supply discipline teams nationwide to manage and coordinate internal multi-discipline design teams and interfaces with clients and other project delivery stakeholders.

  • Ensure the technical quality of project deliverables to our client through appointing the correct resources and ensuring compliance with QA procedures.

  • Lead and contribute to proposals, from small scale discrete projects to supporting delivery of large-scale infrastructure and framework bids.

  • Be part of our wider project management and technical practice networks, enabling you to build your knowledge, skills and career with like-minded engineers globally.

  • Support Senior Project Managers with larger/more complex projects or programmes.

  • Learn to use and ensure adherence in applying AECOM project management systems and processes.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Industry experience of managing tasks or projects, preferably in water / waste water infrastructure consultancy.

  • Be a degree qualified professional, with a degree or equivalent in a project management or engineering subject (e.g. civil, electrical, mechanical) and/or a project management background.

  • Demonstrable ability to develop and monitor programmes, budgets and risk registers to ensure delivery to time and cost, whilst implementing plans to mitigate and eliminate risks.

  • Have experience in the use of programme planning software e.g. Microsoft Project.

  • A team player with strong communication skills, able to develop positive working relationships with clients and delivery teams.

  • Has commercial, risk management and contractual skills and experience, e.g. NEC3/4.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working towards/ membership of a relevant professional chartered institute; for example, ICE, CIWEM or ChPP/APM/PMP.

  • Water and wastewater treatment project experience across feasibility, outline, detailed design, construction support preferable.

  • Experience of working with contractors in a design and build environment.
