Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Strategic Consultant to be based in Nottingham. In this role, you will provide support to the Strategic Consultancy Team, as demand grows for their services (existing and pipeline projects). We offer a wide range of technical management consultancy projects in the highways sector. Our client range is diverse and includes national and private asset owners and operators, infrastructure construction organisations and environmental agencies.
We provide expertise over a wide array, including:
Network management policy, strategy and safety
Sustainability & Resilience
Highway asset management
Research & development
Human Factors
You would be joining a team that is multi-disciplinary with technical expertise in science, engineering, statistics and commercial aspects. We have the capability, expertise and mindset to develop solutions applicable to a wide range of problems. Our research is business focused, based on a comprehensive understanding of our clients' organisations, often with a strong commercial basis – we develop solutions that are deliverable.

There are opportunities to be involved in a range of projects from providing advice on winter maintenance to developing a sand strategy.
Job responsibilities:
Support the Team Leader and other team members in delivering well-researched solutions on a variety of transportation and infrastructure based projects
Source, review, collate and report information from a variety of sources
Take ownership for project tasks with direction from the Project Manager
Support Project Control functions acting as a Deputy Project Manager
Be able to contribute at a strategic level to clients' requirements
Develop novel bespoke solutions on a project-by-project basis
Display a positive attitude to all activities and tenacity to meet deadlines
Minimum Requirements
Extensive of working with government transport based clients (e.g. DfT, Highways England, Network Rail, London Underground, TfL, Transport Scotland, Office of Rail Regulation, Rail Safety and Standards Board, local authorities), or in a research establishment (including well respected universities).
Experience in:
Operations and maintenance of Highways and Bridges;
O&M process, procedure and performance requirements;
Asset management including highways inspection, assessment of maintenance and renewal programmes including financial modelling and risk analysis;
Maintenance contracts and specifications
Experience of providing engineering / technical management consultancy/research advice to such clients
Knowledge of the key issues and opportunities facing transportation in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree (minimum) ideally in a transport-related discipline
