AECOM’s Rail Asset Management Group deliver a range of consultancy projects to rail clients in the UK and beyond. With a large and diverse professional services contract for UK’s largest rail operator, we are recruiting a Project Manager to help grow and deliver consultancy projects for this key client. The Project Manager will assist managing project which address our client’s future challenges, likely having a portfolio of projects and working with a range of other teams within AECOM to harness their specialist skills to deliver projects.
The Project Manager will work as part of a growing and dynamic team, working closely with our clients and taking responsibility for projects through the entire lifecycle, from conception and bidding, through to delivery and closeout. The role will include leading the delivery of technical projects to develop research, strategy, initiatives, feasibilities studies and other consultancy for some of AECOM’s largest clients. There will be opportunity for the right candidate, to both take responsibility for the management of consultancy projects as well as client interface. Although experience with the rail industry would be beneficial, it isn’t essential, and the right candidate will have strong and broad consultancy skillset which could be applied beyond rail projects.
Projects
Clients are likely to include Network Rail, Transport for London and HS2, depending on the frameworks and projects. It’s likely, for example, the candidate will manage a range of projects on our professional services contract with Network Rail which covers areas such as: monitoring & instrumentation, health & safety, digital, competency management, sustainability & de-carbonisation, rail research, and so on. This would involve working with multiple internal technical teams within AECOM to coordinate project delivery. The candidate may also be involved with managing projects for other teams with the Rail Asset Management Group, possibly covering: Geospatial, Geophysics, Ground Investigation, Trackbed Investigation, potentially spanning into operational management depending on the project requirements.
Job Description
Project manage consultancy projects, including tasks such as: directing technical teams, budget management, leading client meetings, contractual and commercial arrangements, management of sub-consultants, programme management, risk reviews, etc.
Engage clients with business development and production of bids and proposals to deliver technical work.
Manage the technical quality review procedures to ensure quality of technical content produced is in line with the project brief and company standards.
Participate in team meetings and play a proactive role in assisting the management of larger contracts and working towards team objectives.
Regularly communicate with team members, management, other teams and clients through emails, meetings and presentations.
Qualifications
Preferred:
Track record of leading multidisciplinary consultancy projects
Experience working in the rail sector and an awareness of relevant contract forms and project governance processes
A technical degree in a relevant subject area
Project management qualification such as Prince2, APM, etc.
