Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking Radar Technicians to perform equipment functional checks, perform troubleshooting/test/analysis, operation, maintenance, installation, diagnose connectivity faults and equipment repair for AN/SPS-49 all variants and Serial 13 RADAR systems AN/SPS-67(V) Series Radar, AN/SPS-73(V), or Bridge Master E (BME), RADAR DISPLAY & DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (RADDS) operation, maintenance, installation and connectivity faults. Position will be located at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, Naval Station Norfolk, VA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Ship's Force technicians and government personnel to analyze and resolve malfunctions identified during equipment operation and testing.

  2. Analyze equipment review and inspection data to determine source of fault, and recommend repair, replacement or other corrective action.

  3. Assist with the installation of engineering changes toward improving quality and reliability and to facilitate installation, maintenance and repair.

  4. Report findings/discrepancies as required via TAAS, Maintenance Action Forms, written / electronic de-brief and/or write a Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of six (6) years’ full-time hands-on technician level experience within last 10 years in assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting, fault isolation, test and repair of Combat, ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems and equipment.

  • Specialized experience: A minimum of three (3) years full-time engineering experience within the last 10 years in Combat systems, operations ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems including all variants of AN/SPS-49 RADAR Systems.

  • Position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities.

  • Position may require travel.

  • Position requires an active Security Clearance and ability to obtain a Common Access Card.

Preferred Qualifications

A preferred candidate will be able to:

Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. Has a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. Exercises independent judgment in performing such tasks as analyzing electronic circuits, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as oscilloscopes, high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer controlled equipment. Concurrent with the 3 years’ experience, must have been for at least 6 months:

  • Team leader performing engineering support services such as:

  • engineering change installations

  • technical assists

  • systems certifications


  • material condition assessments

  • systems installations
