AECOM Entry Level Infrastructure Engineer - Water/Wastewater in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Infrastructure Engineer for our office in Norfolk, VA, to support the Water Business Line’s Program Management group. This position is expected to begin by June 2020. This position will support the delivery of a long-term capital improvement program located in the Hampton Roads area. The successful candidate will have relevant experience/high degree of interest in one or more of the following areas: water or sanitary sewer conveyance, water/wastewater treatment, and water reuse. The successful candidate will work in a team environment and will be responsible for performing specific tasks and discrete portions of broader Program assignments while receiving supervision, guidance and mentoring from experienced engineers.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, you would:

  • Assist with plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of complex projects that the program management team is responsible for

  • Perform civil engineering modeling, design, and drafting work for engineers and project managers

  • Assist with preparing/reviewing cost estimates, job budgets and schedules

  • Support preparation of final plans, reports and calculations and submits them for client approval

  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work

  • Coordinate work with other engineers and multi-discipline professionals

  • Document project information, author reports and other necessary correspondence for the project files

  • Troubleshoots project related problems and provides engineering support

  • Assist with plans, schedules for the development of bridging documents

  • Conducts or coordinates construction services on projects of moderate scope

  • Develop to assist in the management of projects tasks

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis in Water Resources

  • United States citizenship or permanent resident status required

  • ​Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

  • The ability to work well in a team-oriented and inclusive Program Management Organization culture

  • Positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative will integrate well with our existing group of outstanding professionals

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position including software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, hydrologic/hydraulic models

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite – specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • EIT Registration
